HOLY-SchMOLY . . . it's over and we did it!!
Created by parents, families and professionals in 1996, the
Deepwood Foundation, a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization, is the charitable arm
for the Lake County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities which provides help for any resident in Lake County with a developmental disability.
The Deepwood Foundation relies strictly on charitable contributions, events and
foundation grants in order to continue to help those in need of assistance.
In 2007, the Deepwood Foundation provided summer camp scholarships to 104 children and adults, double the number of scholarships given the previous year. It provides funding to families for personal equipment such as hearing aids, walkers or strollers, and assists with unique expenses a family may need in caring for their child or family member with special needs.
The Deepwood Foundation also supports existing athletic programs including the Special Olympics. It has inspired hundreds of children and adults to achieve their dreams and realize their potential with financial support vital to athletes and the programs ’ future.
